You've got your pleasures all around you They're all in a row

This was the view from petra's window. It was sooo cold in denmark when I was there that we couldn't really do all that much. Besides half the time I was there EVERYTHING was closed because of easter. but it suited me fine to wake up late, take ages to get ready, not dress warmly enough and then finally bracing the cold.

we were at the mexibar, which is a cute little place that has a whole lot of crap on the walls like moving deer heads. it was completely packed and everyone was having frozen strawberry magaritas so we had some too. but there was meant to be a snowstorm that night. there were weather warnings and much ado. so when the place closed at around 4 we were going to go to rust nightclub. but we couldn't breathe the air was so cold so we kinda panicked and went home. turned out the snowstorm wasn't so big a deal.

This was really yummy.

We spent quite some time here. There's cafes on the left. We sat outside for hours once even though it was cold. They provide blankets.

We went to this tea room. It was sooo adorable. Not a single thing matched. not even our teaspoons.

Oh everything is really expensive in denmark. but we went to this student bar that had really cheap shots of "fisk" which is this vile menthol thing that wasn't too bad. but the shots here are sooooo small. it's 20ml as opposed to 30 in aus and they have a timer on the bottles so you don't get a drop over 20ml. we had close to 10 and it didn't do nearly enough.

denmark is really pretty. even though all the shops were closed. we still wandered up and down just window shopping.

One night we went to watch Into the Wild. it was such a good movie. so 90s. loved it. and the theater was so quaint like everything else in denmark. the blurry castle thing on the left is tivoli, which i understand is like luna park but with more class. unfortunately it's only opened when it's warmer.

one day we visited christiana, which is in copenhagen but they've divorced themselves from denmark. they're their own country. petra said it reminds her of wonderland, like the derelict old australia section near the beast i thought it looked more like the horror bit near the demon. but yes it was sooo rustic it looked fake. and there were bins on fire and grafitti on every square inch of everything. unfortunately you're not allowed to take pictures because of the drugs whatever. but i loved the graffiti everywhere in denmark it was just much more concentrated here.
we also visited hans christian anderson's grave. which was in this adorable cemetery. we went to the little mermaid, which is this famous statue in the sea. a bus load of russian tourist just pulled up as we got that, after petra and i had to trek to it. and my fingers were stinging from the cold. i seriously thought i'd lose them to frostbite.
one night we made little cabbage pies from a russian recipe. they turned out great. but there were over 20 of them. for easter we dyed eggs but couldn't find any food coloring. so we tried some natural dyes as suggested by some website, beets and curry did not work. but ribena did. yay for ribena.

So lets take a ride and see whats mine

tuesday night brooke shields was taping inside the actors studio. and they tape that show at pace and pace people can watch for free. so i went because i'm obsessed with lipstick jungle. it's such a great show! everyone has to watch it when it comes out. brooke shields was so beautiful and she looks younger in person than she does on the show. probably because she had straight hair in person and it's curly in the show. the person sitting behind me could not get over her hair, literally every 5 minutes it was like "omg look at her hair, it's sooo shiny, it's soo healthy, OMG" but it was really interesting. i think i know everything there is to know about brooke shields now. the interview itself lasted for 3 hours and they hadn't done the audience questions part yet. it was just interesting too because it was obvious which bits were going to be cut out. the questions part of the show are asked by pace students, but by then it was almost 10 and i was starving so i left.

jp and his gf were also at the taping so we went to mcdonalds on broadway, which is my favourite. it reminds me of the one on george st. i called my roommate and she met us there even though she doesn't understand why i go to that one and not the one of fulton which is slightly closer. like the one on broadway is 2 minute walk whereas the one on fulton is a minute and a half away. jp called jeff. so we had an improptu gathering.

at the taping i met this little jewish girl named mor (pronounced more) which is funny because the other day i had met a guy named les (pronounced less). well I find it amusing. and i met up with both of them wednesday night. first i went to this jewish food fair at pace with mor. i tried everything there and all of it was really nice. met some other people cause we were all sitting on a big table. later les picked me up and we went to APT with some of his friends. i'd totally forgotten that there were people out there who drove. APT is in the meatpacking and like all good clubs it's hidden. from the front it looks like a slaughterhouse.

we were there from 12 - 2. which doesn't sound like a long time. but most places in manhattan end at 4 because people go out on weekdays and a lot have work at 7. but everything happens straight away in nyc. it's not like sydney where you go to a place and wait awhile for things to pick up. as soon as i walked in someone offered to buy me a drink which i decline. an old, extremely inebriated dane wanted me to smash his iphone because it wouldn't take a picture of his beautiful male companion in the dark. i got completely smashed, danced, talked to randoms, got offered a ticket to the playboy mansion, passed out on the couch and mistakenly took a bag that i thought was mine. and yeah left just after 2.

the next day hopped on a plane for copenhagen. stopped over at paris and felt a familiarity. guess my luggage felt the same because it got stranded in paris. i didn't get it back for two days. i finally got sick on the plane after days of breathing in my roommate's sickness. went out regardless.

paid for it the next day. slept the whole day. petra made me chicken soup for dinner. it was really good. then went for a stroll.

sunday. had a danish! went to arken. which is an art gallery in the middle of nowhere. saw some damien hirst and other artworks that i wish i could afford.

Cigarettes and songs, with a winter's chafe

friday was my RA's 21st party. she had a private room upstairs at nikki beach in hell's kitchen. the music sucked but i had a really good time. i spent most of the time talking to the bartender though, and one of the only white dudes that turned out to be the manager. ok so there was this french dude that looked like alex from franz who was really insistent on taking raven downstairs for a drink. so she got me to go too. and downstairs was much more fun. there was this runway in the middle of the room that served as the dancefloor.

anyways i was wary of this alex dude from the start so i asked him if he was a promoter. and he was. and he took raven and i to this table of guys. one of the dudes ordered a drink for me and i swear it was a tall glass of straight vodka. i take it upstairs after i've like sipped half of it and asked the manager if it was ethical for the bar to be serving tall glasses of straight vodka. and he's like probably not and mixes in some cranberry juice. which probably made it more drinkable but by that point i couldn't tell the difference.

there was a red carpet and an announcement when vicky was arriving. so we all lined the door and cheered when she came it. so my super sweet 16:

the birthday girl in a dress by life with bird. she was so excited that the designer was australian:

when we got back to lower manhattan. a whole bunch of us met up at gold st diner. which is my favorite diner cause they play indie music. and they don't care that i order thing that are not on the menu. anyways it was around 4.30 and the lights were off, only blue neons and there was a women at the next table by herself with a laptop, just working like it could have been any other time of the day.

saturday was vicky's actual birthday. we went out for dinner. she had a table booked at earth nyc for 10pm. but the day before it took everyone over 5 hours to get ready. and that night was no different. i think we may have gotten there just after 11. and by then the kitchen was closed. no one knew what was going on. ended up going to the place next door: the park. which was massive and really pretty with great food and a nightclub upstairs that was packed. but we didn't finish dinner till 3.30, really 4.30 cause it was daylight saving that night. i want to go back there because the place is lovely but it was annoying being there with 12 other girls and splitting the bill took a lifetime.

It's so much easier When sea foam green Is in fashion

last weekend allie wanted me to go to this small world event on friday. so i had to go to jersey again. but it was ok. because weekends in nyc are for tourist. it was malena's 22nd and it was wear what you want.the party was fun. everyone was nice. it was just a very american house party. with the red plastic cups. punch with beer and vodka and fruit juice. and the joints that were passed around.

sometime during the night, i was busy trying to get un-superglued from someone. my ring broke and i wanted some superglue to fix it. and nahuel got some for me.

and i think it was jay or someone else that was like that's a bad idea. and i'm all like that's an urban myth you can't get superglued to someone. but apparently you can. i was superglued to two people. but it was superficial with nahuel and we yanked apart but jay and i were really stuck. for i don't know how long. cause we spent quite awhile cracking up. some time scheming. and finally went to find some nail polish remover.

they were concerned that i'd be losing my nail polish. but that was the least of my worries. it's been over a week now and i still have chunks of skin missing from my fingers it's so gross. at first i couldn't remember why. and thought i had some skin disease. but then i remembered.

wednesday, random house, you know the world's largest book publishing company had an info session. and the ceo and a couple of other people talked to us. the ceo is so articulate and welcoming. i hope i grow up to be him. it was ok. it made me more aware of what i want to do. which is probably be an editor. or a literary agent.

the random house building is sooo pretty. and they gave out free books. and it was nice being in a new area. around 60th street. especially since i rarely venture above 14th.

You know you can't Rome without Caesar

anyways after cupcakes allie came over. we went downstairs to meet steph and made our way to pastis in the meatpacking district. we were met there shortly by jp and pili and their friends who are visiting from chile. it was the first time i had met them but they were super nice and very beautiful. they

bought me pressies as well. we had a few bottles of white for the table and several yummy cocktails. pastis is like a french bistro type restaurant and i had swordfish and RATATOUILLE.it was pretty good. but didn't transport me back through time or nothing. stephy bought me a cake it was really nice.
after dinner we wanted to go out.

but nothing seemed happening in the area. and it was the coldest night. anyways this guy came up to us and wanted us to go in his limo and he'd take us to a "party". and i had no idea what his agenda was and everyone was like it's your birthday, you decide. and it was so freezing so i'm like what the hell let's go. turns out it was like a taxi it was 5 bucks per person which was pretty cheap. since there was 8

of us. and it was pretty fun riding in a limo. so we were taken to marquee. the uber club that all the celebrities go too. NOT. omg the place was packed but the crowd was pretty bad. most of the clubs in NYC have table service. where you have to buy several bottles and you get a table for your party. so there were lots of moet bottles with sparklers

being brought to people. the music was awful like rnb stuff. but i had a good night. in a twisted sort of way. allie kept getting me shots of grey goose when i asked for it mixed with "sprite" oh you can't say lemonade here because they always say they don't have it cause they think you mean the homemade kind HAHAHA. and we were talking to a lot people who were all very old and very sad. like

this kiwi dude who was like come help me drink my bottles of vodka. because he probably only got in if he agreed to buy several bottles of it and now he has to find people to help him drink it. and while i was sitting there being nice, some man comes and sits next to me and starts shouting things in my ear. and i still couldn't hear because the music was so loud but i think i got the gist of it and it wasn't very nice. then he threw up like sitting right

next to me. i really had fun though with everyone that came. and south americans are so beautiful and friendly. and jp and his gf are adorable. they've been together for 6 years but they're still so in love. it was really great being around them cause you could really feel the love.
